Like in the desert, under the right weather
conditions, light rays can bend around the surface of the Earth.
This effect, called is-blikk by the Norwegians,
creates images of distant objects that are high above the natural
horizon. Theoretically a person could climb to the top of the
highest peak in Iceland and catch a faint glimpse of Greenland. |
